What time of year do bats have babies? I have heard June and July, but my wildlife guy said it might be May.
The best answer is, it depends. It depends on the species but yes the common saying is “June through July let them fly”. Your local wildlife control operator may be the best person to ask because he or she will be more familiar with the species of bat in your area and that is what matters most.
In the south, bats can give birth as early as may but since the sexes will segregate after mating it is also possible to find a bachelor colony where there are only males. So there is a distinct difference between a maternal colony and a bachelor colony, in the latter, you will not find any young and those can be evicted at any time.
In some states, there is a time called “The black-out” period in which it is either illegal or highly recommended that evictions not be performed. To find out more you can use our state network of websites to find your state and ask a question there.
